W.C. Rossall Yellowstone Park, 3 mi. W Gardiner, 5400 ft., Wood Aug 24-25 1967 Later in morning saw 11 mtn antelope. Finally jumped a doe & lawns & a spike buck from the vicinity of the spring. Quite a morning for game. Took the Sora Rail as it was swimming at edge of tules on small pond, above the house. This bird was very fat. The Evening Grosbeak was taken from a lone juniper when it was feeding on the berries. Its bill was covered with pitch. Blacktail Deer Cr., 6700 ft., Yellowstone Park Mary, Aug 26 1967 Mary Meagher, Park Naturalist, and one who is studying Bison, under Leopold, was generous to give me the key to her home area. On the topo sheet it is shown as a patrol cabin. Beautiful view S from the cabin. Rolling hills, meadows & small willow in the draws. Patches of low sage brush, small aspen patches & clumps of Lodgepole pine & Engelmann Spruce widely spaced on the hills!
