Aug 24-25 1967
Later in morning saw 11 mtn
antelope. Finally jumped a doe &
lawns & a spike buck from the
vicinity of the spring. Quite a
morning for game. Took the Sora
Rail as it was swimming at
edge of tules on small pond, above
the house. This bird was very fat.
The Evening Grosbeak was taken
from a lone juniper when it
was feeding on the berries. Its
bill was covered with pitch.

Mary Meagher, Park Naturalist, and one
who is studying Bison, under Leopold,
was generous to give me the key to
her home area. On the topo sheet
it is shown as a patrol cabin.
Beautiful view S from the cabin.
Rolling hills, meadows & small willow
in the draws. Patches of low sage
brush, small aspen patches & clumps
of Lodgepole pine & Engelmann Spruce
widely spaced on the hills!
