W.C. Russell June 25-1966 Moved camp to-day to W Fork "Yaak River at 5000 ft. Had a job trying to find a place to camp. The bottom land is in ranches & the mts. are covered solid with timber. We finally found a place in an old logging road. The bottom land bordering the Yaak River some 400-500 yds wide has been logged. The timber on the slopes was smaller so they didn't go far up the slopes in tree harvesting. The main tree here is Engelmann Spruce with a scattering sample of Birch, Western Red Cedar & Doug. Fir. The main under brush in cut over areas & in thinly forested areas is willow with poke berry currant & thimble berry. There are some peaks around 5000 high enough & so rocky to be practically above timber line. June 26-27 Hunted in cut over land & in the rock slides below cliffs. Moose tracks, deer tracks & bear droppings are very numerous though we have only seen 1 Moose.
