W.C. Russell Pine Cr, 5200 ft, 1/2mi. S Opey Line, Warner Mts., Modoc Co., Calif. June 15 1964 There is practically no humus. Even the meadows with good grass are too rocky to sink a shovel in. The rock looks like a finely broken up shale. All rocks large or small quite angular. June 16-17 Have hunted from camp 5200 ft up to Lilly Lake that seems to be about 6400 ft on the top shut. There are Western Flycatchers along creek at camp but they seem to be more numerous around 6200 ft. For all the timber the woodpeckers seem to be quite scarce. Williamson Sapsuckers are hard to come by. So far on this trip have seen only 1 Cottontail. June 19 1964 Broke camp and drove to Klamath Falls. After scouting for a camp site some miles W of town, we returned to town & I took a plane for Besk. Returned to Klamath Falls in late afternoon of June 22. Went out to the camps where Johnson & Reynolds have been camped. Stayed one night & then broke camp & drove to Medford & on up
