Drove over Cedar Pass & down on Cedar
Ck. to around 6000 ft. where I hunted
along the stream for Western Flycatcher.
Due to recent rains & snow the run
off is heavy & creek is huge & noisy.
The birds are spaced along the creek
every 100 yds. or so, but trying to
locate them in the large firs
with their call notes seeming to
come from all directions at same
time, is tough hunting. Hunted from
6:30 AM till 10:30 to get 3 birds & lost
one. Only other flycatchers seen were "
several wood pewees this around
edges of meadows. The Westerns seem
to be strictly confined to stream side.

Hunted up the N facing slope S of Camp.
In thick white fir timber near the
ridge finally rec. an answer to Biggy
Owl calls. One answered with good
vigor and was able to lead him from
perch to perch till he was in suitable
position where he would fall clear
without hanging up in a tree. Now this
bird had a completely empty stomach.
