N.C. Russell Shawbury Co, 8500ft., Snake Range, White Pine Co., Nev. June 24 1962 Tent was made of white shredded bds of aspen bark. Lining was a dark finely shredded darker bark & a few small feathers mixed in. Heard several Dolnic warblers singing but difficult to get a shot in dense thickets & more difficult to find a bird if killed. Heard 2 White-crowned sparrows singing &muffed both of them. Found several large aspen -12"-14" diam freshly cut & felled by beavers. Seem to have a family of weasels living right in camp. Chetman list saw an adult across creek from tent in afternoon. In evening he watched 2 youngish appearing animals playing in same area. But time it occurred to us to try catching them alive they dis- appeared. Den I must be close by. We are commencing to see crossbills in flocks now. This was not true when we arrived. At 1st of month only single birds were seen.
