June 12, 1962
Big Wash & Lepington Crakes. The golden-crowned kinglet was taken in white firs half way down slope of S Fork of Big Wash. The topo sheet showed a trail from camp on Lepington Cr to Big Wash. This is now a road. I traveled the road for from Big Wash. Saw 1 Crossbill. No sign of Jays.
June 13, 1962
Hunted to High Ridge W of camp this AM. At about 900 put out a very small lawn. Also came upon a lion track in a small snow bank. Was looking for Swifts and Solitaires but no luck.
June 14, 1962
Went to Ely today to meet Gene Christensen & Ron Church. Then Ned Johnson returned to Park. The boys returned to camp with me. Weather has changed and now is [illegible]. Clouded up to-night to cover the moon so we tried for Flammulated Owls. There was still some light from the moon. For no explainable reason we couldn't start a single owl.
