N.C. Russell Snake Cr., 8400 ft, Snake Range, White Pine Co., Nev. June 5 1962 This morning early Alcorn left since he couldn't do any trapping. I drove to Baker & called the Neb. Fish & Game in Elq telling them where we were camped. This was done since they were so generous to give us a permit to take 4 grouse. Actually one is supposed to call in after cornering said grouse in a tree. Usually though the bird won't sit still while one helper drove 40 mi. to nearest phone. Stopped down canyon on return from Baker and hunted for awhile along cotton- wood & willows along stream and out in adjacent juniper/pinon slope. Heard several spotted towhees in streamside thickets. No did not see any woodpeckers. Saw several brush tits in Pinons & took the one Titmouse that was singing all over the place but was hard to approach. The Wright Flycatcher was in willows along stream. This bird's skull was not closed & bird very-very fat. Not a live rabbit seen all day. One or two killed on road. They are definitely down in numbers. Not a chipmunk or Golden-mantle seen. A dusk I'd & drove up road above camp to around 8800 ft. with intention
