W.C. Russell Snake Cr, 8400 ft, Snake Range, White Pine Co., Nev. June 3, 1962 The canyon of Snake Cr has several branches all of them with very active streams as there is a heavy snow pack. There are extensive aspen groves in the bottom made up of trees as large as 12-15" diam x 50 ft high. The N facing slopes are covered with dense stands of aspen & white fir. The S facing slopes have immature stands of Mt Mahogany. Have encountered a few small patches of manzanita. And of course sage usual, every place that lacks trees. The stream side has clumps of willow & nine bark. Took a Citellus grammurus up off the ground in the base of a willow clump. This animal was very tame, after twice they are wary, in fact took her with a 38 amp. She had 5 emb x 10 mm. I have noticed in part at times that pregnant rabbits were not as prone to dash off. The squirrel had no fat. Deer sign plentiful between Johnson & we saw 18 most in white coat yet. Bucks in velvet. June 4 1962 Rained & snowed a bit last night.
