In early afternoon Peet Schramm & I went to Marin Co to vicinity of Tomales to trap moles + gophers. He had good early rains in Oct & Nov of 1960 so ground was really wet down. The rain stopped and we had none in Dec. & up to 23 of Jan.
Was curious to see what the breeding activity of the moles is at present. Starting this Amble season I do not have a good live trap. Set and 9 spear traps. There has been plenty of mole activity. Mounds all over the pastures. Set traps on Swan Ranch 2mi. NW of Tomales.
By evening had taken 2 moles.

Took 2 moles this morning a ♂ & a ♀ that were ready to breed. These two were not saved as spec. for M.Y.Z., This shows quite a spread of breeding activity from full term embryos to just ready to breed.
