to the highway. It was placed in a dump
truck & taken to to public scale for
weighing. From the scales we went on
the coast highway W of Santa Cruz to the
dump used by the city. A bulldozer scooped
a deep trench & the whole was deposited
beside the trench where we went to work
cutting off the head & one flipper. After sawing
out the head the carcass was pushed into
the trench and covered. The animal was
buried in a part of the dump where
it would not be disturbed. In 2 years
or so we will have a look at the remaining
bones.
Skull was sawed in half and the brain
removed for weighing. Brain weighed
2713 grams.
