Oct 12 1960 (1) acc . 4833 (cont'd) to the highway. It was placed in a dump truck & taken to to public scale for weighing. From the scales we went on the coast highway W of Santa Cruz to the dump used by the city. A bulldozer scooped a deep trench & the whole was deposited beside the trench where we went to work cutting off the head & one flipper. After sawing out the head the carcass was pushed into the trench and covered. The animal was buried in a part of the dump where it would not be disturbed. In 2 years or so we will have a look at the remaining bones. Skull was sawed in half and the brain removed for weighing. Brain weighed 2713 grams. Pictures taken by Mr. John P Strohbeen 1135 King St. Santa Cruz.
