The name in letter of July 19 1960 from Zoo calls the Spur-winged Flower Lobiges novae-hollandiae. However there was a slip with the bird that gives the name as Vanallus cayennensis. This bird was sleeping so had to make a skeleton. Didn't notice the discrepancy in names till feathers were thrown out. July 26 1960 acc 9833 (1) Vicinity of Farallone Islands. 13705 ? Megaptera novaeangliae Piece of balen came from whaling at Point Richmond. Coll. in July 1960 Oct 12 1960 acc 9861 (1) Santa Cruz, Santa Cruz Co., Calif. Skull + Flipper 13706 Balaenoptera acutorostrata w. 3830 lbs. Brain weight 2713.0 grams. + 2 neck vertebrae Length - tip of nose to notch of tail 17 ft. 9 inches. + Hyoid Bones Length rt. Flipper, posterior base to tip 765 mm. Length of tail, tip to median notch - 787 mm Girth, narrow part anterior to tail 635 mm
