Returned to mole study area in afternoon to watch for workings at night. Had only stopped raining 2 days before so ground was wet. On late afternoon there was a little activity. Probably the wet soil caused so much earth worm activity near the surface that the moles don't have to work much. I assume they get some worms in the already established burrows.
Dug out 2 moles M + F between 6-8 P.M. Rather cool & clear very little dew.

Up at 3 AM to see if they were working. No activity till 5-6 A.M. and very little then. Went to another pasture and opened up 5 fresh mounds and watched them from 7-8 A.M. Only 1 worked & that was while I was elsewhere. So didn't get any. Should go when soil is a bit drier for good activity observations.
