#13672 died last night. She weighed 88.5g when caught - was down to 60.8g at death.
Animal behaved strangely for some time as she was crazy with hunger though rec'd as much as other moles. She would attempt to jump out of pen to get at the food at feeding time. Though she ate everything in sight still lost weight.
Could find nothing wrong when I opened her up. I would judge from reproductive tract - which was enlarged but probably going down that she had had young this year - tract pickled.
Had a talk with Dr. Nandi in Cancer Research Lab, Warren Hall concerning the milk production and what could be done to increase it in these moles. His suggestion was try 1. Cortisol as an injection 2. Thyropin in the diet and 3 if no results from 1 or 2 and injection of Cortisol + Prolactin + growth hormones. Cortisol available from Dr. Nandi. Thyropin available commercially. Prolactin & growth hormone would try to get through Howard Bern.
