W.C. Russell M.V.Z., Berkeley, Calif. Mar. 8, 1960 Looked in net top of # 13676 at 5 P.M. No young left. They were born Mar 4 and were there when checked on Mar. 6. Mar 9, 1960 At 7:15 A.M. fed some angle worms to # 13676 intending to kill her later & look in stomach and see the condition of the worms. Upon examination 2 hrs. later, found the stomach empty. Tried squeezing the teats to extract some milk. Only a trace was forced out. Opened the animal up and could not find any milk gland tissue at all. Considerable fat however. Now this I had been in captivity only 2 weeks but still there was too much fat and no milk gland tissue. She had been fed canned & dry dog food, some banana and plenty earth worms. My guess right now is this lack of exercise may be the cause of all the trouble. By blowing with air could past hairs on belly and find 4 teats on st. side and 1 on left side that had been used. Only the posterior one on left side could be found.
