Feb 28, 1960 Very little activity from 7 A.M. 'til noon. Feb 29 1960 ♀ #13656 taken on Jan 19 has had no young I was removed from the nursery cage. Had noted she probably wasn't pregnant as others taken at same time proved not to be. Put in with ♂ 13648 in evening 7:20 P.M. She had scattered much of her dry grass bedding material out into the main cage from the nest box. There is one other ♀ that is doing same thing. I recall some of them did same thing last year. Maybe there are now pregnant ones. Will keep watch on this. Mar 4 1960 # 13676 had 3 young in nest when I looked at 5 P.M. Have been checking nests every day at 5 P.M. Am going to leave them strictly alone now for awhile. # 13666 taken on Feb 12 has been another one that scattered her nest material over all the cage. So removed her from nursery and put in small cage in basement. She has lost weight since capture and I'm assuming she is not pregnant.
