Returned to study area in afternoon and from 3:30 PM on there was a fair amount of activity in the mole population. By dark, a little after 6:30 PM had dug out 3 killing our in the process I was too anxious and dug what I thought was behind one I could hear working Cut it in half however. Now this evening was cloudy much the same weather as on Feb 24 when the snow didn't work. Can't figure out what makes the difference in the degree of activity in late afternoon Stayed up till 9 PM but after 7 PM there was not much doing.

Was out at 7 AM and found what always seems to have happened. There is a great deal of activity sometime between 9 PM & 7 AM next day. This 10 hrs of night is the time when most of the mounds are thrown up. Will have to work from midnight on & see what goes on.
