Feb 19 1960 Arrived at study area in Marin Co at noon. There was no activity of moles during mid-day. In late afternoon went to Swan's Ranch, arriving in their pastures at 4 P.M., and by then there were new mounds already up. Between 4 & 6:30 PM dug out 2 & 1/2 a 3' with the shovel. Used the method of opening up a new mound and then waiting for mole to come and plug the opening. Was successful in each place where I tried. 2 mi W Pt Tomales, Marin Co, Calif. At least when I opened burrows after 8 PM no one came to close them when I waited 1/2 hours. Feb 20, 1960 Was out making the rounds at 7 AM. Looked like every mole on the ranch had worked during night. There was absolutely no activity from 7 AM till I left at 9:30 AM.
