W@Russell M.V.Z., Berkeley, Calif. Jan 18 1956/1960 While I was looking for suitable place to set three lights I turned over an old plonk and there was a 2-mole beneath. He was easy to catch by hand. This was one of the real tame ones. Mole vary a great deal in temperment. Some individuals squeek and attempt to bite when picked up by tail. A few do not squeek and can soon be handled with scarcely any attempts at biting. With aid of the lights took 2 & at 4 P.M. Another was missed with show. 3 mi. W Tomales, Marin Co, Calif. Skeleton Only died Jan 20 1960 w/Jan 20 73.2 13652 Scapanus caught Jan 18 193-38-22 when caught 79.8 very fat. Feb 8 w/.106.69. 195-42-22 83.9 13653 " alive failed Feb 22 109.29. Found it was a ? instead of ? saved as mounted skel. Stayed up till 8 P.M. when I turned in. Too tired & cold to hold out any later. Jan. 19, 1960 Up at 6 A.M. checked lights and found 3 with batteries dead. They came on after 8 P.M. Ticked up light sticks and moved 5 of them to a new locality. Left them out till 9 P.M. - 2 hrs. In this time one light went out but arrived too late to dig it out. Walked up to another to push
