CaƱon del Olamo, 7300 ft., Sierra del Vado, Chib, Mex. June 16, 1959 Found a place where turkeys are using for dust bath. Depressions in a dusty area; 8-10 of them some 18" in diam. One guide old Mens trail digging but so far haven't flushed one. Late in afternoon after dinner around 7 P.M., I was sitting just looking out over the broad expanse of fields to north when a wild cat walked within 50 yds. of camp on way to water. He gave no indication of disturbance at all till I moved to get a gun. Then a bit later 2 gobblers ran across open fields some 250 yds. from camp. They had been coming to water when Bill surprised them. So it was like sitting on the front porch and watching the parade of animals. June 17, 1959 Taste a gray fox in steel set at water hole. Started out this A.M. with no particular objective in mind. Climbed up to a very low oak ridge NE of camp. It occured to me, since everyone else was hunting to W of camp, it might be a good time to try for turkeys. Lareda call on calls and a turkey immediately answered. Worked on him for next 1/2 hr. He
