Thamnophis ordinoides atrotus

note on garter snake (T.R. 3812) taken April 15, 1943,
at Romers Creek, 450 ft., 5 mi. N Parkers Bar,
Merced Co., Calg. The snake was kept
alive in a 1 gallon mayonnaise jar with
two large yellow-legged frogs (Rana
boylii boylii). During the night of April 17,
one of the frogs disappeared and a large
bulge was noted in the snake. The snake
was chloroformed and thoroughly
injected with 75% alcohol (especially
the bulge).
