J. Rodgers - 1940 Sonora acipitalis Acc. no. 6239; 2629 T. Rodgers; coll'd by W. Saarni at Irona, San Bernardino Co., Calif. Color records by Ridgway: Cross bars brown, darker than Prout's Brown (Pl. XV, 15'n) anteriorly, Prout's Brown (Pl.XV, 15m) on most of body and darker (tho not as dark as anteriorly) posteriorly. Top of head, anterior to brown, between Baryta Yellow and Martins Yellow (Pl.IV, 22f) but grayer. Spaces between brown bars have an indistinct bar of orange separated from the brown bars by narrow light yellow bands. The orange bars are Orange-Buff (Pl III, 15, a) and the yellow is slightly more yellow than Baryta Yellow (Pl.IV, 21f). Sides, along at level of lower ends of brown bars anteriorly are nearly white. Belly Martins Yellow (Pl.IV, 23, f). The brown bars completely ring the tail and th. posterior 5/8'th of th. body; tho th. ventral part fades anteriorly.
