(continued report of collecting 1 3/4 mi. SE Bald Peak, 150 ft., C.C. Co.)
rocks, most of them under flat rocks 1" to 3" thick. At
least four of them must have been digging recently—
judging from loose dirt near them in the hollow. They
usually fit the cavity rather snugly. About 6
Sceloporus were seen, all in torpid condition,
laid out straight under rocks in loose dirt. Loose
dirt was scattered over their backs, making them
hard to see at first glance. The weather was
cool and over sunny, with tule fog
surrounding Mt. Diablo and probably
Walnut Creek. Berkeley was overcast with
a high fog.
