J. Rodgers -1942 Ernecs skiltonianus Aug. 17 Mrs. Vert. Zool, Univ. Caly., Berkeley, Alamo C, Calif. are given the following numbers: 3424, 3425, 3426, 3427, 3428 (embryos). Investigation of the embryo shows it to be nearly fully developed. The scales of the supraorbital region on the left side are deformed, causing the snout to be pulled over toward that side - out of line with the lowerjaw. A large mass of yolk was still present, and it contained about 35 white cysts (?), each about .6 to .8 mm in diameter. Number of spec. Snout-vent Tail 3424 26.4 mm 33.0 mm. 3425 25.9 mm. 31.2 mm. 3426 25.2 mm. 32.1 mm. 3427 26.2 mm. 31.0 mm. Aug. 18 Measurements of eggs of Nests 1, 2 & 3 Nest No. 1 16.8 x 8.4 mm For the past two days I have 14.9 x 8.3 mm noticed that these eggs were 16.6 x 9.5 mm picking up considerable dirt 15.8 x 8.9 mm. as if the soil was wet 13.3 x 8.0 mm (shriveled) enough to stick to them. Today I took them out & washed them, took the wet dirt out & put barely damp soil in. The eggs are dried thoroughly before putting them back in. One egg looks like it has gone bad; others look good. Nest No. 2 14.3 x 9.2 mm. The soil in this nest has been consistently drier than that in other nests. This I stay with this one egg as regularly as the others do.
