Eumeces skiltonianus
April 28 Mus. Vert. Zool., Univ. Caly, Berkeley, Alameda C., Caly.
blue of the distal 1/4 then lavender in the next to distal
1/4. The orange also extends around onto the dorsal
surface, covering all the area of the tail that is not
blue - the proximal 1/4. The orange on this male is
more extensive than on any males so far collected
in the Berkeley Hills (this spring), and the eggs in
the female (WWD 3024) are much larger than in any
female so far taken in the Berkeley Hills. The
season down at Big Sur is evidently much ahead
of the season here.

From skinks, judged to be mature and possibly gravid,
that Walt Dalgren collected near Grizzly Peak yesterday
are being kept alive. They are each in separate
compartments of terraria. It is hoped that they will
lay eggs and data can be obtained as to time
required for hatching, etc. These four skinks are in his
catalogue as 3113, 3114, 3115, 3116.
