See Itinerary of Sacramento Valley trip, Mar. 6-9, p. 203 A-D. April 28 Four specimens collected by Walt Dalquest on the Cuyamaca River, April 25. A young male (WWD 3026) has a bright blue tail, buffy stripes, and no pink on tail or labials. A large male (WWD 3025; gonads, O) has a blue tail, and bright orange along the labials and below—no pink on tail. A large female (WWD 3024) has large eggs (O), blue on dorsal surface of remaining 1/3 or 1/2 of tail, no pink on tail, and only a light tinge of pink on the labials. This pink, found on the labials of females and young or non-breeding season males is probably independent of the bright orange and red-orange found on breeding males. A large male (WWD 3023) has smaller gonads than males taken in April 19 the Berkeley hills last Sunday (O), but it has much more bright orange on it. The orange completely covers the labials and ventral surface between them, and extends back about half way to the fore-leg. On the ventral surface of the tail, it covers the entire surface from anterior to the vent, blends with the
