Color description from Ridgway, of no. 2834, a skink from Stockton - an intermediate between E. g. g. and E. g. cancellosa. From live (?) specimen under cloaciform. Light vertebral area of ground color. between Jayne's Olive and Saccardo's Umber; Pl. XXIX, 17, j. Dorsolateral light lines. Pale Yellow-Orange; Pl. III, 15, f. Lateral stripes. Pale Orange-Yellow; Pl. III, 17, f. Greenish and bluish tinge in dorsolateral light areas of original part of tail, and bluish tinge on ventral surface of regenerated part of tail. See Itinerary of Sacramento Valley trip, Mar 6-9, pp 203A-D. For several weeks I have noticed no. 22 gaping or "smacking its lips". Today I notice that it is just completing shedding; its head is bright red and its body bright green. The tail has not yet shed, but will no doubt also be bright green. Apr 29. No. 22 is thinner and apparently sicker. It probably won't live much longer.
