J. Rodgers - 1940
Itinerary, etc.
Mar. 2, 3.
Vacaville and 1-5 mi. NW & NW, Solano Co., Calif.
Mar. 2 about 1:20 p.m. John Chattin, John Gray,
and I left Berkeley for a two day trip to
Solano Co., primarily to collect skinks. The
weather was clear and warm. We drove to
Vacaville, then angled off to the NW about 4 mi.
by road to a place on the Pleasant Valley cross
that we figured by maps to be 3 mi. NW Vacaville.
We collected about 30 specimens of reptiles
and amphibians there including 8 skinks.
They were under rocks or grassy hillside;
Some brush nearby. We traveled SW to other
to a rocky ridge about 1 1/2 mi. N Vacaville.
John Chattin saw one skink there (under
a board). We traveled on up N and NW on some
little oiled roads, and camped in an
abandoned farm yard about 5 mi. NNW
Vacaville Mar. 3, we got up about 6:30, put
our specimens in formalin (labeled them)
and left about 9:00 am. This day we
drove to Winters, up Putah Cr. to Pleasant Valley,
south to [illegible] Fairfield and then up Susan Creek.
we camped 1 mi. S Lake Curry.
1 mi. S Lake Curry, Napa Co., Calif.
