I Rodgers - 1942 Cnemidophorus tesselatus Jan. 12 Mrs. Vert. Zool., Univ. Caly., Berkeley, Alameda Co., Caly. No. 2168 ♀ died to-day, snout-vent 116 mm.; tail nearly withered away - distal 1/3 t.; wt. 33.3 g. Collected in May, 1939, Arroyo mocho, by John Jack. Rec'd. in MR2. June 16. 2LF toe cut off, 5LH later lost. It had become very thin and stayed on top of the sand all the time. Its left front foot had become smaller, and the second and fifth toe were gone. It was not weighed, but length from snout to vent is 117.5 mm. & the length of a broken tail is 193 mm. in Madera Co. Aug 10 No. 2172, collected in May, 1939 (see p. 108) was found dead and dried up today. I saw it out about 2 months ago. This is the last whiptail to die. At present, I have none in captivity.
