J. Rodgers - 1940 136 Cnemidophorus tesselatus Aug 30 Mrs. Bert Zool, Umi. Caly, Berkeley, Calif. is crooked, dry and dead appearing. I lifted th shelter and could not find anything that th tail could have been caught on but 2172 ? was inside. Could 2172 ? have been holding 2168 ? by the end of its tail. Sept. 27 Clipped toe nails of 2168. From or five were slipped close enough to bleed a little. I painted them with iodine. The toe claws do not seem to wear down as much as the should in this cage. Possibly there is not enough solid rock or packed sand. Even when they dig to the bottom they have only smooth glass to dig against. Oct 17 2168 ? ok - did not seem to suffer. Except for occasional cold days, all four captive whiptails have been out every day and have eaten readily and heartily for at least two month now - probably longer. When They have ben fat and healthy looking for about two months. When they first started coming out regularly, some of them looked patty thin.
