Itinerary Geospecimen Valley Trail Map, #3, 8, 7, 6, 9. (Written Mar. 10, in Berkeley) I met Walter Dufresst, Sherburne Cook, Jr. and Ius in Lafayette. We picked up Philip Merritt at his home and got to MVX. Left Berkeley at 8:30 a.m. in the Geo truck belonging- At Dry Creek, we collected all of our specimens under planks, boards, chunks of wood and dug about a foot deep along the road there; a large number were found on the west side of Highway 99 and the north side of the creek (not now dry). The ground was very muddy and was quite saturated -- probably had been raining off (thw wan jon) (Dry Creek not now dry). The land is at least 25 feet above the level of the stream. Most of the specimens taken at the place called "I'm in W Michigan Bar" were taken on the hillside on the north side of the Coquales River, just across from a bridge called Bridge House. Some were taken about 1/2 mile west of there on both sides of the road. A few of the specimens were taken on the south-facing hillside north of the road (Highway 99). As we traveled up from Whiskey Creek, we found rocks to turn over but did not find any of them.
