0750 hrs Arose to check traps.
0830 hrs Arrival at a trapping locality (8.5 mi ENE [byrd] Sontecomapan, D), 25 m.). This area is located .3 mi by rd. past the Tuxlas Biological Station. All traps (except 20 of mine or 120) were set in areas of mature habitat which is extensively interspersed with cleared fields.
The habitat is fairly disturbed within, some clearing for wood. Not much undergrowth, but what there is consists of ferns and Philodendron appearing plants.
0925 hrs Out of 40 traps set in the mature habitat, I collected 1 Heteromys and 2 P. mexicanus. From the 20 traps set in dense secondary growth with some grasses on either side of the road I collected another Heteromys, 1 Sigproden hispidus, and 1 O. melanotis? (may be a couesi).
Daniel caught 2 P. mexicanus and 3 Heteromys from 40 Sherman's and Ed caught 2 Heteromys and 1 P. mexicanus.
1015 hrs Returned to Hotel Playa Sordicia and have checked the twenty traps set out in mature but disturbed area near the hotel. These traps yielded only another P. mexicanus, but Ed caught 3 P. mexicanus and another Heteromys from 20 traps set in the same area.
1245 hrs Ready to begin karotyping after a late breakfast
1550 hrs Finished karotyping 6 animals (3 Heteromys and 3 P. mexicanus, #s 1544-49.) Took blood and tissue as well. In addition I took blood and tissue on the S. hispidus (OSR 1550) and 4 other P. mexicanus (DSR 1551-54).
