more Peromyscus.
1045 hsk Skinned several animals that tissue was taken from,
wili save those in cooler until later. Have everything
packed and ready to drive to Catemaco.
1340 hr Arrived Catemaco. Filled up with gas, and
drove to the waterfront of town to buy ice, then to market
for vegetables.
1455 hrs Arrived Playa Escandida (a hotel ca. 20 ENE Catemaco)
We will stay here tonight or several more nights while
we trap and net bats.
1540 hr Talked with a man (Bill Schalbock sp?) who
is a breeder and apparently helped write Walker's
Mammals of the World. He now lives near Playa Azul la
hotel ca. 1.5 mi outside of Catemaco. We will eat dinner
here and then prepare more specimens.
2100 hrs. Finally finished preparing more skins and taking
tissue from the series of P. zachyackus (#s 1427-43). Did
not set traps out tonight. Tomorrow we will set traps
in areas previously trapped by myself in 1977 for
Kitonomy.
2320 hrs Final entry this day. Finished feeding the animals
All seem to be doing ok. Must change the litter in some
cages tomorrow. Ed and I will arrange the traps tomorrow
morning as well. If time permits, I will also wash
clotnes as I am running low on clean ones.
