Collected 15 mice from 20 traps (4 P. mexicanus?, 4 P. zamynchus? and 7 Reithrodontomys fulvescens. 0735 hr Broke camp and head towards other trapping locality 0845 hrs This locality is 3.5 mi SE (by rel.) Rayon, ca. 1000 m. Excellent success here also. From 40 traps collected the following: 1 Micromys mexicanus, 2 Bryomyss sp, and 13 P. zamynchus. Ed did even better (out of 40 traps): 4 Keteomys, 1 Micromys, and 19 P. zamynchus? 0940 hrs Drove through town of Rayon. We plan to drive to Villa Hermosa and get a hotel to sortotype. We have determined that there is something wrong with the vehicle and it has to do with the brakes. We have to get them looked at 1245 hrs Arrived Villa Hermosa 1355 hrs Spent the last hour and a half looking for a place to work on our car with no success. Decided to drive towards Veracruz. 1545 hrs Arrived Coatzacoalcos. 1635 hrs No mechanic available, but did charge $200 for pesos ($2,200). Will drive toward Acayucan. 1810 hr Arrived Acayucan. Checked into hotel El Ritz. 2145 hrs After eating at a restaurant on the town square we put up some mice. One of the Netemys nelsoni from Mogtad died (took tissue #1480). Also took urine from several Reithros from above Rayon (1485-87) and made skeletons onlys from 4 Peromyscus from Bochil (1481-84).
