Duke S Rogers 1986 Journal (24) (#1463), a series of Peromyscus from the Boschil local as well (#'s 1464-69), a series from the San Cristobal local (#'s 1470-75) and three Tylonyx from Beniojabal (# 1476-78). 1420hs Spotted some decent looking habitat above the town of Rayon (3.5 mi SE by rd. Rayon) 1555hs Completed setting traps at the above locality (Edward and I both set 4's). The area I set traps in was very wet, in a small draw with a rushing stream. The ground was very wet-muddy, many vines, not much litter. Very difficult to trap (step). Some large trees, dead rotting trunks as well. 1630hs Returned to a campsite above Rayon (5.1 mi; SE by rd.) Rayon, ca. 1850 m.), 1745hs Completed setting a box of 20 Sherman's around the camp area, which is a paved area off the road probably used as a staging area when the road was paved. The habitat here is secondary growth ca. 3m tall, much understory, some bunchgrasses. 2130hs Final entry today. Finished skinning and preparing as study skins the 16 animals tissue collected today. Tomorrow we will quickly check traps and plan to drive to Villa Noriega. The brakes are making a noise and need adjustment. We will probably check into a hotel and paratype some animals as well. The weather is once again foggy here, and will probably be wet again in the morning. Temp. ca. 18° C.
