Duke S. Rogers 1980 Journal 0630 hrs left hotel Molana and drove back to trapping locality 0845 hrs Out of sixty pheromo I have only collected 4 P. gymnotei Ed and David collected 1 gymnotis each. No Ketenoyz! I will save, hopefully, some of the P. gymnotis alive to take back for chromosome banding. 0920 hrs Stopped to get gas in Huixtla. Our plan today is to head for the town of Motozinlla de Mendoza. The road to this town heads roughly northeast from Huixtla. On another map, there are only two high peaks given. The first is Volcan Tacana, and the other is unnamed to the northwest of Motozinlla de Mendoza (hereafter abbreviated Motzintla). Whenever we ask directions to Cerro Mozotol), the natives reply Motozintla? I though at first perhaps they could not understand our Spanish, but perhaps the high peak is also called Motozintla? 0930 hrs mi. 21.9 Turned off main highway at Huixtla (north from Benet in Tapachula side of town) and head out along a freshly paved road. mi. 25.0 - Town of Monacal mi 28.4 Nuevo Tenochtilan mi 28.9 Crossed the Rio Huixtla 0955 hrs mi: 29.9 Passed turnoff to Col. Morelos. Once again, this road seems to have areas along either side of mature relatively undisturbed lowland rainforest. 1015 hrs mi: 35.0 Col. Guadalupe. The road is unpaved in spots, but still fairly good. ca. 600 m elevation.
