before we drove into Nuevo Alemania This road should take up back to Huixtla.
1630 hrs Arrived back on main highway to Tonala The road back from Nuevo Alemania was very bad. The only turn we had to make was bearing to the right side of a jack in the road. Some decent undisturbed looking habitat along this route.
1658 hrs. Arrived at patch of mature vegetation on either side of highway [15.5 mi SE (by Road) Mapastepec, 50 mi]. We will set traps here and net bats.
1940 hrs. Arrived Huixtla and checked into a hotel. I set 60, EH 40, and DG 40 shermans at the locality where Heteronysp and L. gymnottis were collected last summer (1979). We were going to camp there and set bat nets, but a native warned us that it was too dangerous since bad men travel through there with pistols. I was skeptical, having camped there before, but the consensus was to leave the area and come back to pick up traps in the morning. The hotel we are staying in is called "Molano" and is located ca. 6 blocks to the right side if driving through Huixtla from Mapastepec side. The hotel is located on the same street that goes by the town square.
2330 hrs. Turned in. We must get up early tomorrow so that are license plates are not taken as were are illegally parked.
