Duke S. Rogers 1980 9 December 15:00 We have driven all night and are now in Queretaro. Our route taken was Juarez, Chihuahua, Tonale, Zacatecas, San Juan Potosi, Queretaro. 1330 hrs. Arrived Mexico City at Permit Office located at corner of Isabel la Catolica and Nezahualcoyotl sp? To get there, follow the Reforma into downtown all the way to where Reforma merges with Benito Juarez. Follow Juarez until it hits the main square (if necessary). Before this Isabel de Catolica will cross but it is a one-way street and too far up where it hits Juarez. One must parallel Isabel de Catolica until Nezahualcoyotl is reached. 1630 hrs. Have checked into a hotel on Nezahualcoyotl two blocks from the Fauna Silvestre office called Playa Hotel. We will have to wait until 10:30 tomorrow morning until the proper person is available to hand out permits. 10 December 0830 hrs. Arose and ate breakfast: 0936 hrs. Checked in at office and were told to return in one hour. 1030 hrs.: Unfortunately, they have DG's permit ready, but not of the required documents E.H.'s. Ed did not bring a copy so there is no chance of and apparently, the first was lost in the mail. getting one! We will now have to check in with the office on the return route in hope of getting the permit at that time. 1230 hrs. Finally out of Mexico City. The air pollution is absolutely awful.
