Mike S. Rogers 1980 Journal 12 September cont. rocks and pebbles. Much large grained sand with some layers of clay. The burrow at this point was ca. 9 cm. below the surface. A rock was also turned near this area and a large burrow was uncovered. The soil here was much more friable and I assumed this area would be the animal's food cache area and den. Collected the specimen after 20 minutes in the gravelly-sandy runway. The animals was already dead and beginning to stiffen, so I assume he was taken within 10 minutes of setting the trap.
