we employed full time to rid gophers from the fields.
We took 21 individuals from the fields. We
will now drive to Guerrero Negro and rent a
hotel room and preserve specimens. Tissue was taken
on [illegible] all but three individuals. Five are still
alive and will be karyotyped.
2400h. We are still preparing specimens. We also
collected many snakes (see RS this date) while right-
driving to Guerrero Negro from Vicaros. In addition
we collected 2 Depadrury (2 species)
12 September
8:30 h. Turned in after skinning and making skeletal
preparations of all material except 4 live gophers.
Will karyotype after several hours sleep
8:30 h. Arose and prepared to karyotype. Will try
to keep one individual alive and karyotype three.
11:30 h. Preparing to leave Guerrero Negro. We will
drive north and stop briefly at two localities
with definite gopher activity.
13:30h. Collected one gopher along the Hwy where an arroyo
crossed underneath. The traps were set ca. 7m from
the road and ca. 12m from some standing water.
The water table was just below the burrow system.
