Duke S Rogers 1982 Journal The forest itself is composed of large mature trees, moderately disturbed by logging. Very little flat areas, the trapping area consisted of a series of small ravines. The understory consisted of broadleaf plants - 0.2 to 2 m in height. Moderately thick leaf litter in some areas (20-30 mm) grading to none (essentially) in others. Friday 6 August 0530 hrs Arose, dressed and left for our trapping locality 0730 hrs Returned to hotel. I collected 5 Oteromyrs from 46 traps set and Ed 2 from 30 traps. We intend to eat breakfast, then drive back to San Jose and set up a time to barotype the animals. 1230 hrs Stopped at a Hotel-Restaurant near crest of Cerro de la Muerte. We plan to set traps at our first locality of the trip, then drive into San Jose. I don't want to keep the lowlevel animals up here as I am afraid they will die. 1530 hrs Completed setting 100 traps (70 in mature vegetation and 30 in secondary growth). Ed set out 80. I hope to pick up additional Oteromyrs ovestern, to take back alive. 1650 hrs Arrived San Jose and stopped in to talk with Pedro Leon at the Univ. 1900 hrs We have set up a time to barotype (tomorrow afternoon) and have checked into the Hotel Cocori once again. We plan to leave early to check our traps in the mountains tomorrow
