one way road (to the left) back into Villa Colon then is a
dirt road on the right - this is the one that leads to the two
collecting localities. After 0.2 km take a dirt road
to the right. Continue on this road for 0.8 km to a river
and a narrow bridge. This is the first local (1.6 km W
by rd) Villa Colon). Continue on this road for another 1.2
km (second local = 2.6 km W (by real) Villa Colon).
This one is located along a small stream. This area is
very barren under the trees, with little leaf litter,
slope about 30-40° in most places traps were set. The
vegetation is bordered by some coffee plants.
1936 he returned to the Pension and took care of our live

0615 hrs Arose, dressed and left to check our traps.
0836 hrs Completed checking traps at both Villa Colon locals.
From the stream local (1.6) I collected a Sigmodon hispidus
in secondary growth near the road and a Proechimys
semispinosus. Ed caught one Proechimys and Phil nothing.
From the farther local I took 3 hionys and 1 Proechimys.
Ed caught 3 hionys, one Sigmodon + 1 Proechimys and
Phil 2 hionys.
0915 hrs Stopped for breakfast outside of the town of
Paseo Colon.
1036 hrs Checked out of Pension American. Tried to get back
into Cocori but were unable to. We plan to look for
