Duke S Roger 1982 Journal (12) For several hours we have stopped to set traps on a farm owned by a very nice man who speaks good English. His name is Oscar Mora. 2100 hrs. We have set traps on a hillside overlooking San Jose and Tres Rios. The habitat is fairly disturbed, trees are about 10 m -15m in height. There is a lot of coffee planted, rather thick understory in some areas, but little in others. Leaf litter is ca. 1 cm in depth. We have been given coffee and a place to sleep in a spare bedroom. Oscar and his wife are very nice and charming people. I don't hold out too much hope for collecting any Metronyxs tomorrow. I have 70 traps out. 19 July (Monday) 0615 hrs Arose, dressed and left to check traps 0750 hrs Returned from picking up traps, having only caught 2 animals (Scotinomys and O affaroi?).
