John S Roger 1982 Journal Treeless embankment 300m road washed out single lane only traps set in forest new scale E < 2.2 km (by rd.) To Cartago San Jose Trinidad de Dota I have set out 90 Sherman's (all in the forest except for 20 which were placed in secondary growth just above the highway on the south side. This locality appears to be only 6 or 8 airline kilometers from El Copey de Dota, alt. 2600 m (higher than Copey) but it is about the best habitat that I have seen so I really hope we score on the H forest in the morning. Fog is blowing in, and it is misting heavily. 2000 hrs. We have driven another 12.2 km to the SE toward Cerro de la Muerte to camp. We pulled off in an open area to the left when heading southeast. The locality where we are trapping is along a stretch of the highway were to one side (NE usually) is Cartago Prov, and to the SW is San Jose Prov. All our traps were on the San Jose Prov. side. Foggy, slight wind, temp. ca. 10 C.
