Derek Rogee 1982 Journal 1030 hrs Arrived back at hotel and parked nearby. We spent about thirty minutes getting the equipment organized before setting out to find a Coleman lantern globe which had broken during transit. 11:15 hrs No luck looking for a lantern globe. We will go out collecting without a lantern this time, then possibly purchase a propane lantern when we return to San Jose. 11:50 hrs I telephoned Pedro Leon to let him know that we would be coming by to drop off a trunk and a cardboard barrel. First we ate lunch (1/2 a fried chicken for $43.00!) 12:35 hrs We dropped off the equipment at Pedro's lab and have returned to the latter begun our drive to the El Copey de Dota locality. 1800 hrs Our route of travel was the Carretera Interamericana (Route 2) via Cartago (we got lost for a while, through Tejar and past Trinidad de Dota. (only Trinidad on the map). This is approx. Km marker 660. (I get it exact later). When we realized that we must have past the turnoff for El Copey de Dota (Copey on the map - it is before Trinidad) we turned around and went back to Trinidad where we took a mileage reading. The locality where traps were set is: 2.2 km E (by rd.) Trinidad, 2600 m. Prox. San Jose, Costa Rica. The south side of the road is covered with a cloud forest of hardwoods, ferns, bamboo looking plants, etc. Much bromeliads epiphytotia:. There are many fallen logs. And the forest is fairly well thinned out.
