11:30 hrs We have met with Pedro and Tony. He will allow
us use of the lab for karyotyping and storing extra
equipment. We may also use one of two microscopes
for scanning. Tony gave us the address of the place that
sells antivenom. It is called "Instituto Clodomiro
Picado" located in the town of Coronado outside
of San José. It is part of the Univ. of San José.
12:05 I don't have directions to the above place because
the taxi ride was so circuitous. However, the
taxi driver stopped to ask directions several times and
was guided accordingly. The building are set back
off the road ca. 50 m and are blue and white. We
purchase antivenom for one person (Anti Viverid only)
for $420.00 colones.
12:45 Returned to Hotel. We will try to buy some adrenalin
and various other supplies and obtain a vehicle, then
go to the permit office once again.
14:00 hrs. We have spent several hours trying to rent a
"Land Rover" size 4-wheel drive vehicle (it is larger
than the normal Toyota size jeep) with no luck.
Global Rent-A-Car may have a VW bus for $200 dollars
per week, unlimited mileage. We are now at the
permit office. The permits are approved and
