Duke E. Rogers 1981 Journal to drive to Barranca de San Miguel, dirt road leading to a part just west of Fortin de las Flores. 1645 hrs While Stan and Dave look for salamanders, I set 20 traps in the area above the dirt road ca 100 m from the beginning of the park. There is about 30 m of habitat before one comes to a cliff ca. 10 m in height. There are numerous rocks, interspersed large trees, vines, and many trees of intermediate height. The forest floor is covered with ca. 15 cm of litter, sometimes less. Elephant ears are common along with herbaceous plants ca. 200-400 cm in height. The area slopes ca. 20° and steepens to 30-40° near the base of the cliff. The area is fairly undisturbed. 1720 hrs Collected an Anolis which Stan examined then released one again 1735 hrs Drove into Fortin to eat supper and secure a hotel. 1755 hrs Arrived Fortin. Ate supper at a restaurante on the town square. 1820 hrs Twice to get a hotel room at two places in Fortin, but were unsuccessful. Decided to drive back to Arigaloa and stay at the hotel Trneba since Stan had made reservations there that would be kept until 2200 hrs. 2010 hrs Arrived Arigaloa and Hotel Trneba. 2300 hrs Turned in.
