Duke S Rogers 1981 Journal 31 October (cont.) showing up to clear us. Finally talked my way out of the problem to some other official looking plain clothed people and left. 1000 hrs Change my ticket with Mexicana. We will leave on the 9th of November instead of the 17th. Stan and Dave fly on Pan Am the morning of the 9th, and I leave on Mexican at 8:45 pm on the 9th as well. 1040 hrs Left Mexico City without any N2. Will try to pick some up in Oaxaca. At worst, I can maintain the live animals until the 9th and buy liquid nitrogen in Mexico City on that day. 1110 hrs left Mexico City for Oaxaca Area. There is a salamander local (Rio Erio) than Stan and Dave want to collect. 1415 hrs Search a hillside briefly near Rio Erio (about 3-4 km east on the old non toll highway to Oaxaca The area was too dry, we found nothing and moved on. 1600 hrs Search along the old highway to the west of Rio Erio for about 20 km, but found nothing familiar to Stan or worth working over. Decided to drive into Oaxaca and rent a hotel. 1720 hrs. Arrived Oaxaca (got back on toll road at Rio Erio and off at Oaxaca). The town's streets are all torn apart. Stan search around town for awhile and then found a hotel where he had stayed
