Jukes E Rogers 1980 Journal 3 September 0930 hrs Robert Seib and I left Berkeley, Ca for Baja, Mexico. I plan to collect mammals, primarily rodents and gophers, while RS collects herps. 2000 hrs Have arrived at border across from Tijuana after driving through Los Angeles and San Diego via Interstate 5. Had to get a certificate of citizenship since I left my birth certificate at home and had no passport. ( # 24 /muff) 2145 We will stay at a Hotel & buy car insurance in the morning. 4 September 0730 hrs Awoke and prepared to leave US. 0900 hrs Crossed border into Baja. 01:15 hrs Went through check point near Punta Banda 16:30 hrs Arrived vicinity El Rosario and drove to a locality where RS has a pitfall station. Collected several lizards and 2 shrew partial skeletons (probably Notiosorex) 17:45 Set 20 Sherman traps up a dry wash in the canyon where RS has pitfall traps. Locality is 10 mi SE (by road) El Rosario (taken from bend in Hwy). Weather was mild (ca. 85°F) 18:30 hrs Drove to a locality near the coast and set 80 more Sherman traps. Coastal scrub habitat. Much cooler here than the other locality. This locality is designated
