Duke S. Rogers 1981 Journal 5 January 0740 hrs Arose, fed animals, had breakfast. 1020 hrs Preparing to leave motel. 1100 hrs Several animals died during the night. An O. caudatus from Vista Hermosa and a P. melanocarpus from El Machin. I took tissue on both animals and prepared them with the help of Ed while Daniel is driving. 1630 hrs Decided to drive through to Mexico City. 2130 hrs Checked into a hotel just one block down from the permit office. Either due to the heat of the vehicle in city traffic, driving or both I have lost another six animals. I must prepare and take tissue on all of them. 2320 hrs Completed taking tissue and Ed helped me skin the following: 2 Keteonigo (1 Rayon, 1 Ojo de Agua DSR 1662, 1663) 2 O. caudatus (V. Hermosa DSR 1661, 1664, 1665), 1 P. melanocarpus (El Machin DSR 1667) and a P. thomasi (1666) 6 January 0700 hrs Arose and fed animals. No other deaths this morning. 01045 hrs No permit to be had for Ed, therefore we must cross border at Juarez. 1130 hrs Left Mex. City after rearranging Carayall. We will not do any more trapping. 2030 hrs Arrived at a motel north of Zacatecas. Will stop here. Another P. thomasi died during the day.
