0520h - out on MC to check traps. Overcast skies - perfect for trapping! A lot of mice in the trap set. Note that I only recorded P. californicus. Caught the mouse for telemetry (#2044), plus all the other collared mice. All radios working fine! Finished by 0600h and quickly left so that the mice would have time in the remaining minutes of darkness to return to their "normal" nests
Returned to MC at 1100h for telemetry locations - finally got a helper with mom! See Telemetry Data. Returned again at 1400h and all mice remained in the same spot (see telemetry)
This afternoon was mostly cloudy and much cooler than previous days (low 70's). I walked up this afternoon to School Hill to watch an Acorn Woodpecker power struggle with Strawback and Hoog. Pretty fascinating.
I rest the western half of Loop MC and took telemetry readings from 17-1800hrs. I'm trapping only to capture the radio-collared mice. I opened up all other traps. Lastly, I set 3Lc Shermans along the creek bed by the Robinson House. I hope to capture some California males for photos and test size measurements.
2200h - out checking traps on MC. Overcast, mid 60's.
I caught all radio-collared PC tonight - I removed their collars and opened up all traps so I don't have to check traps here tomorrow am. Finished by @ 2300h. (Note I only recorded captures of P. californicus this evening)
